About Tenuta La Fuga 2016 Brunello di Montalcino
The smallest of the properties of Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute, Tenuta la Fuga is one of the most prestigious properties in the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Densely planted vineyards produce low average yields, allowing wines with concentration, complexity and considerable aging potential. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. Maceration lasted about 15 days in steel vats before malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine was aged in large Slovenian oak casks for three years and then one year in bottle before release.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 93 points saying "Enticing aromas of fragrant blue flower, ripe woodland berry, menthol and star anise are front and center on this full-bodied red. The firm palate features crushed raspberry, blood orange, underbrush and coffee bean while tightly wound, fine-grained tannins show up at the close and carry through the coffee-bean finish. Drink 2024–2031."
