The Super Tuscan from a Mondavi-Frescobaldi Collaboration!
Here's a very rare Super Tuscan from the esteemed Tenuta Luce. When Vittorio Frescobaldi, in the early nineties met Robert Mondavi, they gave life to a new chapter in the history of the great Tuscan wines Creating Luce. It all started from the desire to make a dream come true: create excellent wines from Tuscany in a particularly suitable terroir, Montalcino. Over the years, Tenuta Luce has produced exclusive wines that have earned a widespread, international appreciation among the great wines from Tuscany.

2010 was an outstanding vintage in Tuscany. This is a blend of Sangiovese ane Merlot. Fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel with a 4 week maceration. The wine then aged 24 months in French oak barrels 100% new.

James Suckling scored this 98 points saying "This is clearly the greatest Luce ever. A wine with currants and blueberries with hints of flowers and spices. A full bodied red with with lots of chocolate, berry and vanilla character. Chewy. Juicy. Better in 2015 to soften and come together. Fabulous blend of 45% sangiovese and 55% merlot."

Wine Spectator scored this 94 points saying "The floral, violet, black cherry, earth and spice aromas and flavors are very pure here. Focused and elegant, yet forceful, balanced and long, this shows a touch of mint in the aftertaste."
