About The Vice 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, The House, Napa Valley
Created by Master Sommelier Malek Amrani, The Vice is a Napa Valley luxury wine brand made in small batches. Each batch is crafted from grape varietals sourced from hand selected vineyards that best express the varietal and the region that it comes from. This is our second vintage of "The House" Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 was a huge hit. This 2018 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from three USDA Certified Organic vineyards in Napa Valley. The backbone of this wine is from Mount Veeder At 1050 ft of elevation, the vineyard is divided into blocks facing every point on the compass. With moderate temperatures than most of Napa, Cabernet Sauvignon slowly ripens in this vineyard and develops a high skin to flesh ratio, resulting in rich concentration, great complexity and firm tannins. Also sourced were a vineyard in warm in the heart of Napa, St. Helena and one in Coombsville with volcanic soils and cooling breezes from the San Pablo bay. The wine aged 22 months in 100% French Oak barrels 40% new and was bottled un-fined and unfiltered.
The 2017 was featured in Forbes Magazine "Best Red Wines Under $50". This 2018 is no less a Napa Cab value. It shows all the elements that make Napa so special. It wouldn’t be fair to describe this wine in a few words, since it took a year of hard work in the three vineyards and an additional two years in the cellar to craft “The House”. Give it a nice swirl and expect a generous punch of dark berries, cola and black currant on the nose. On the palate, the texture is plush with notes that compliment the nose. Tobacco, cinnamon and dark cacao join the flavor cocktail to what may seem like an eternal finish.
