About Tokaji Aszu 2016 6 Puttonyos, Disznoko
One of the world's most esteemed dessert wines, Tokaji Aszu has satisfied the sweet tooth of Tsars and Emperors alike. Disznoko is a historic estate, declared first class in the 1772 classification. In 1992 it was purchased by a French winery group that owns several Classified Bordeaux Chateaux. It's now a state of the art wine making facility with prime vineyards. Today the winemaking has been modernized but the tradition remains like this 6 Puttonyos wine is one step away from pure nectar. Extraordinary complexity and a tantalizing balance of sweetness and acidity are the hallmarks of this Eastern European treasure.
This 2016 received rave reviews including 97 points from the Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "This golden-colored Tokaji has aromas of raw honey, apricot blossom, pear and baked apple tart. Silky smooth upon entry, it offers flavors of baked apples, wildflower honey, canned pears and apricot. The acidity is nicely balanced so as not to be too cloyingly sweet."
Wine Spectator scored this 96 points saying "Well-spiced and minerally on the nose, showing hints of petrol and slate, with a brilliant backbone of acidity creating a mouthwatering frame for the silky flavors of apricot pâte de fruit, clover honey, passion fruit coulis and lanolin that expand on the palate. This is an explosion of flavor and texture, yet remains light on its feet and graceful throughout. A beauty. Drink now through 2040."
