About Treana 2015 Red Blend, Paso Robles

The Hope Family created Treana in 1996 to offer this special blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Since its inception it has been widely embraced for displaying how well the flavors of these two grapes from the exceptional terroir of Paso Robles compliment one another creating a rich mouth-filling blend. This latest release is from the outstanding 2015 vintage. Grape lots were fermented individually in stainless-steel tanks for 14 to 20 days. Extended macerations and carefully managed pump overs enhanced the extraction of color and tannin. The varietals were aged separately in French oak barrels, 18 months in 50% new, 50% once-used. The initial blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah was assembled in the winter of 2014-2015 and barrel-aged an additional two months. Vinous scored this 91 points and said "Opaque ruby. Spice-tinged dark berry, cherry and pipe tobacco scents are complemented by suggestions of mocha and allspice. Blackberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors show very good depth and a subtle touch of candied licorice. The spiciness builds on the long, sappy finish, which features pliant tannins and a sweet, lingering touch of vanilla."and Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 92 saying "Roasted blackberries, soft vanilla and rich milk chocolate aromas make for a familiar entry into the nose of this always suave blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon an 25% Syrah. Polished tannins present black cherry and caramel flavors on the palate, which makes for a very pleasing and rich glass of red wine."
