Trefethen Vineyards is world famous for their extraordinary estate Cabernet from their vineyard in the Oak Knoll region of Napa Valley. Much like a second label Bordeaux, The Double T label was launched to use the estate fruit that doesn't make it into the main bottling. Grapes for this Double T Red come from the very same estate vineyard but from the younger vines and also blending varietals that are in ample supply. All of it is prime thanks to their exceptional location at the cool end of Napa Valley.
2018 was an outstanding vintage and the blend is 45% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 12% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine aged 16 months in 15% new oak.
The nose is full of lush cherry and red raspberry followed by subtle notes of vanilla and cinnamon. Juicy fruit flavors excite the palate and the long finish is wrapped with cedar, nutmeg, and clove spice.
