Low Intervention ‘Natural’ Valle de Uco Malbec under $20!
Uco Wines Vineyard is in Paraje Altamira, 77 Ha in a climate of great thermal amplitude and rocky calcareous soils. This is where our Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and a few lost rows of others come from. The oldest vines are around 30 years old.
With vineyards located 1,100 meters above sea level in the Valle de Uco region of Mendoza, and prolonged maceration at a low temperature, it is no wonder that this Malbec is so purely delicious. Low intervention ‘natural’ winemaking techniques were utilized and once fermentation was complete the wine aged in 872 gallon concrete eggs for 8 months to maintain purity and freshness, with no fining or filtering at all.
Deep purple in appearance, the cherry, blackberry, and blueberry fruit aromas are laced with floral and black pepper spice notes. This is no pushover wine, yet has restraint without being overtly powerful. The mouthfeel is soft and plush leading to a fruit filled, dry finish.
One of the best Malbecs we have ever tasted Under $20!
