About Umani Ronchi 2015 Cumaro, Conero Riserva DOCG
Situated on a peak overlooking the sea, Mount Conero protects the surrounding hills from cold northeastern winds. The result is a unique “terroir” where the grapes develop balanced acidity, sugars and phenolic compounds. Conero represents the northernmost area where Montepulciano can be cultivated, giving rise to wines of extreme elegance.
This wine was created in the mid-1980s to celebrate the Montepulciano varietal from a place close to the sea with highly calcareous soils, using a rigorous selection of grapes in the vineyard and modern techniques of vinification and aging.
Grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks for 12‐14 days with natural yeasts. The wine is aged in 225-liter oak barriques for 12‐14 months.
Wine Spectator scored this 91 points saying "Finely knit and fresh, a sleek, medium- to full-bodied red with supple tannins defining a pleasing range of chopped black cherry, dried thyme, Kalamata olive and fig cake flavors. Lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2028."
