About Veedercrest 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, Vintner's Reserve, Napa Valley
There are a number of wineries that come and go in the valley and then there are those who were well regarded and then for a variety of reasons no longer produced wine commercially. Take for instance Veedercrest – this winery released their first vintage in 1972 and produced wine until the mid 1980’s. Then for twenty years no wine was released.
However, it was resurrected under the leadership of sole proprietor Ron Fenolio with his first “new” release coming in 2005. He began the label again as a tribute to his friend and co founder Al Baxter, a tribute to Veedercrest’s unique history and to both his and Al’s passion for wine. Al was mentored by the legendary Napa Valley winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, and by 1976 Veedercrest wines had reached such critical acclaim that they were selected by Steve Spurrier to be in the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris that put California wine on the map as world class.
This Vintner's Reserve is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from prime vineyards in Napa Valley. The wine aged in French oak for 24 months. It shows remarkable composure with an amazingly smooth palate for such a concentrated wine. Wild and powerful, aromas of black pepper, graphite, sweet spice, sandalwood and cherry compote dominate the nose. Blueberry, spice, pepper and cassis are accentuated by surprisingly soft tannins. Lively, balanced acidity and a long finish round out this wine. Best of all we managed to grabbed a small parcel beautiful Reserve Cab at a great deal price which we're passing to you.
