About Vieux Clocher 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape, Symphonie des Galets
Marc and Jean-Francois Arnoux are the newest generation to perpetuate their family’s long history at this traditional domaine that owns Vieux Clocher. The family’s history in Vacqueyras dates back to 1731 (with vineyard-owning lineage dating back to 1717) and their vineyard holdings are now 100 acres in total. Their trusted sourcing partners have supplied the family for decades with supplemental grapes for their outstanding wines. Always complex and interesting, Arnoux’s offerings consistently over-deliver and are perfect for those that are of the ‘bigger is better’ philosophy that has dominated the Southern Rhône for the past two decades. Their wines remind us of why these wonderful appellations became so renowned in the first place.
The vineyard soils are comprised of red clay covered by stone and pebbles, hence the name Symphonie des Galets (or Symphony of Stones). The careful blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mouvedre and 10% Cinsault was fermented in temperature controlled vats for 20 days, followed by 6 months of ageing in French Oak barrels. This is a truly stunning wine with as much balance and complexity as there is elegance and structure.

A brilliant garnet robe develops a complex aroma of red fruits with a hint of spices. It is full bodied and mellow and you will be enchanted by its power with fine and silky tannins.
