This wine continues to impress. Greg La Follette who worked at BV under the "Dean of American Winemakers" Andre Tchelistcheff, is the winemaker and with the release of the 2016 vintage they've sought greater regional diversity to round out the flavor profiles. By combining the quality of Sonoma’s most prestigious AVA, Alexander Valley, with the iconic characteristics of Napa Valley, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon truly represents the best of both historic grape growing areas (55% Napa, 45% Sonoma). 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec, the lots were vinified separately and aged 18 months in French and American oak barrels. Another great vintage, the 2016 harvest was early with a mostly normal yield of exceptional quality fruit in Napa and Sonoma counties. The great acidity and tannins added to excellent freshness. You won't hear many complaints about the 2016 vintage from Napa or Sonoma winemakers. This 2016 show ripe berry, cassis and a hint of cocoa framed nicely by a touch of toasty oak for added harmony and balance and the finish lingers with cassis and vanilla. A super value!!
