About Wairau River 2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough
Phil and Chris Rose started establishing their vineyards in 1978. In true pioneering spirit, they began hand planting vines and raising a family. After contract growing grapes for some years, they decided to produce their own wine in 1991 and the Wairau River label was born.
Sourced from the family vineyards across the Marlborough region, these grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the morning, gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel vats. After blending, the wine was left to settle on light lees before bottling.
Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 91 points saying "This is a strong vintage of this wine. It’s clean, refreshing and balanced, neatly weaving grass, bell pepper, passionfruit, pineapple rind and white pepper aromas together. There’s a crunchy tang and a fresh fruit finish. Marlborough savvie bee at its most thirst quenching."
Wine Spectator scored this 90 points saying "Tangy, intense, mouthwatering notes of Key lime, pomelo, passion fruit and apricot jump out of the glass, with accents of hops and lemongrass on the finish."
