Beginning with the cleanest organic and sustainably farmed grapes coupled with the best winemakers in the world, wielding the best equipment available, Westwood wines are meant to elevate the important moments in your life. Expressive, elegant, and textured, our wines are unmistakably California, but are crafted for those who appreciate an elevated experience. Reflecting two decades of work and planning, Westwood’s voice is decidedly unique - as unique as their 33 acres in Annadel Gap, Sonoma.
This head-turning chardonnay is a notable example of what happens when Philippe Melka's remarkable interpretation of Old-World technique combines with stunning New World (Petaluma Gap) fruit. Melka started at Dominus Estate from 1991 to 1993. The terroir here was a revelation for him and although he went back to France afterward, taking a position with Château Pétrus, he returned to the valley in 1994 and has called this his home ever since. For the past 20 years, Philippe has served as the winemaking consultant for some of Napa’s most highly regarded properties.
With its legacy of eye-popping scores from the wine-reviewing domain, it is no surprise that this limited-production chardonnay has become one of the most famous wines they produce.
The 2020 presents a pale straw color in the glass, shimmering with hints of golden hues. Its clarity is impeccable, reflecting the wine's purity. As you bring the glass to your nose, the aromatics of this Chardonnay captivate the senses. Aromas of ripe citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit dance alongside vibrant orchard fruits like crisp apple and pear. The bouquet is further enhanced by subtle floral notes, delicate hints of honeysuckle, and a touch of vanilla from well-integrated oak.
