About Yvon Mau 2020 Premius, Bordeaux
Founded in 1897 in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, Yvon Mau has built up a unique expertise in Bordeaux wines. At the beginning of the century, Yvon, the founder's son, traveled the vineyards on his velocipede - which a few years later became the symbol of the company - in search of the best wines.
Always faithful to its terroir, Yvon Mau has grown to become one of the leading players in Bordeaux wines. A subsidiary of the Spanish Freixenet group since 2001, the company is now part of the German Henkell Freixenet group, the world leader in sparkling wines, following Henkell's takeover of Freixenet in 2018.
Today, the Gironde-sur-Dropt-based site has become the benchmark within the Henkell Freixenet group for the production of both Bordeaux and PGI still wines. Yvon Mau selects and produces more than 20 million bottles of still wine each year, which are distributed in France and abroad by Freixenet Gratien.
PREMIUS is the prestige cuvée from Yvon Mau, makers of fine Bordeaux wines since 1897. From selection through to the winemaking process, PREMIUS benefits from all the lavish attention of their in-house winemakers. This meticulous care has been rewarded over the last 10 years by some 50 medals in the main competitions in France and around the world.
Premius Rouge is a delicious Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Raspberry in color with a nose of blackcurrant, strawberry and mocha. The maturity of the grapes is emphasized by a lovely balance and a fresh touch of red fruits. Oaky notes bring complexity to the long finish, with grilled and toasted flavors.
